The University of South Carolina opened the New Tailgating Experience today for their first home game of the season. The Gamecocks went on to win the game against East Carolina with a final score of 48-10.
Directly adjacent to the University of South Carolina’s Williams Brice Football Stadium, this project is a conversion of a 53 acre farmer’s market into the premier tailgating facility for the University. The completion of the project will see the birth of a new Gamecock football tradition – the procession of the USC Band and Football team down the center green way of the site. Flanking this green way, dubbed “Garnet Way,” are the restroom buildings. These buildings were designed to recall the historic qualities of the original portion of the campus on the Horseshoe. Each of the restrooms, which too small for LEED certification, do provide many sustainable features, such as the use of skylights and daylighting controls for lighting, as well as low flow toilet fixtures.
This project was designed along with Cox and Dinkins and Wood and Partners.
