Prior to returning to South Carolina in 1996, Tom practiced in New York City for 12 years, working on critically acclaimed projects throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has taught architecture at Clemson University, has frequently served as a guest juror at various architecture schools, and has served on numerous design awards juries. Tom founded the Columbia Design League in 1997 with his wife, Adrienne Montare, FAIA, LEED AP. Together with their two daughters Tom and Adrienne have travelled to 5 continents.
